General information

The Burgess Extended day provides a wonderful program in a convenient location. The program is open to students enrolled at Burgess Elementary School who are in grades K-6. Below are FAQ and general information about the program. Refer to the BED parent information and financial agreement contract for a full overview of the BED program.

What are the hours of the extended day program?

The morning portion of our program runs from 7:00-8:30 am.

The afternoon runs for 3:00-5:30pm

When does the program run?

The Extended Day Program runs on the same schedule as the school. We do not provide care on 1/2 days. We are closed on holidays, school vacations and snow days.

When do bills come out and what do they reflect?

Your billing statement will reflect the specific time slot you have selected and the number of days the program is in session each month. Invoices are emailed the first of every month and payment is due by the last day of the month.

If my child is absent will I still be charged?

Since each students slot is reserved for them, absences from the program will not reduce the monthly bills.

Can I change my childs schedule?

If changes need to be made to the original contract, a written notification must be submitted notifying the program of those changes. Vacations do not qualify as a change in schedule. Changes in billing will be applied to the invoice on the month following notification of the change.

What if my childs schedule changes last minute?

To ensure the safety of students, daily changes in schedules necessitate a note to your child’s classroom teacher and an e-mail to the program director (yatesh@tantasqua.org). If there is no

E-mail and no note, your child will be dismissed to the BED program.

What if the weather is bad?

We are closed on snow days. If school is dismissed early due to inclement weather, the BED program will also be closed.  If after school activities are canceled because of bad weather, our program will also close, and children will be sent home on the bus. There is no morning program if there is a two hour delay. Please have a backup plan in case of a snow emergency.

Who can pick my child up?

Any adult listed on your child’s contract as "authorized adults to pick up my child". ID's will be checked if a staff member doesn’t recognize the adult picking your child up. If there is any reason someone shouldn’t pick your child up (court ordered), please inform the BED staff.

How is discipline handled?

Parents of students who are disrespectful and disruptive to the program will be notified through the use of the Incident Reports and Behavior Referral Form. If your child continues to be disrespectful, (following written communication), your child may receive a 1-3 day suspension from the program. Continued suspensions will result in dismissal from the program. Please refer to our contract for information regarding our behavioral policy.

Do you send out tax forms?

Yes, you will receive a tax form by the end of January.

How much does the BED program cost?

Tuition costs of the program will be $8.00 per hour or any part of an hour, for the first child. Any additional child of the same household will be $2.00 per hour. The morning program has a flat rate of $8.00 per day, with an additional $2.00 for any additional child of the same household.

Do you accept vouchers?

At this time, we do not accept any state vouchers for tuition.
